குறள் பால்: [1] அறத்துப்பால் (Virtue)
குறள் இயல்: [3] துறவறவியல் (Ascetic Virtue)
அதிகாரம்: [35] துறவு (Renunciation)
குறள் : 341யாதனின் யாதனின் நீங்கியான் நோதல்
அதனின் அதனின் இலன்.

விளக்கம்:
ஒருவன் எந்தப் பொருளிலிருந்து, எந்தப் பொருளிலிருந்து பற்று நீங்கியவனாக இருக்கின்றானோ, அந்தந்தப் பொருளால் அவன் துன்பம் அடைவதில்லை.
Kural: 341Translation:
From what from what a man is free From that, from that his torments flee

Explanation:
Whatever thing, a man has renounced, by that thing; he cannot suffer pain
குறள் : 342வேண்டின்உண் டாகத் துறக்க துறந்தபின்
ஈண்டுஇயற் பால பல.

விளக்கம்:
துன்பமில்லாத நிலைமை வேண்டுமானால் எல்லாப் பொருள்களும் உள்ள காலத்திலேயெ துறக்க வேண்டும்,துறந்த பின் இங்குப் பெறக்கூடும் இன்பங்கள் பல.
Kural: 342Translation:
Give up all to gain the True And endless joys shall hence seek you

Explanation:
After a man has renounced (all things), there will still be many things in this world (which he may enjoy); if he should desire them, let him, while it is time abandon (the world)
குறள் : 343அடல்வேண்டும் ஐந்தன் புலத்தை விடல்வேண்டும்
வேண்டிய வெல்லாம் ஒருங்கு.

விளக்கம்:
ஐம்பொறிகளுக்கும் உரிய ஐந்து புலன்களின் ஆசையையும் வெல்லுதல் வேண்டும், அவற்றிற்கு வேண்டிய பொருள்களை எல்லாம் ஒரு சேர விட வேண்டும்.
Kural: 343Translation:
Curb the senses five and renounce The carving desires all at once

Explanation:
Let the five senses be destroyed; and at the same time, let everything be abandoned that (the ascetic) has (formerly) desired
குறள் : 344இயல்பாகும் நோன்பிற்கொன்று இன்மை உடைமை
மயலாகும் மற்றும் பெயர்த்து.

விளக்கம்:
தவம் செய்தவற்கு ஒரு பற்றும் இல்லாதிருத்தல் இயல்பாகும், பற்று உடையவராக இருத்தல் மீண்டும் மயங்குவதற்கு வழியாகும்.
Kural: 344Translation:
To have nothing is law of vows Having the least deludes and snares

Explanation:
To be altogether destitute is the proper condition of those who perform austerities; if they possess anything, it will change (their resolution) and bring them back to their confused state
குறள் : 345மற்றும் தொடர்ப்பாடு எவன்கொல் பிறப்பறுக்கல்
உற்றார்க்கு உடம்பும் மிகை.

விளக்கம்:
பிறவித் துன்பத்தைப் போக்க முயல்கின்றவர்க்கு உடம்பும் மிகையான பொருள் ஆகையால் அதற்கு மேல் வேறு தொடர்பு கொள்வது ஏனோ.
Kural: 345Translation:
Why add to bonds while this body Is too much for saints to be birth-free

Explanation:
What means the addition of other things those who are attempting to cut off (future) births, when even their body is too much (for them)
குறள் : 346யான்எனது என்னும் செருக்குஅறுப்பான் வானோர்க்கு
உயர்ந்த உலகம் புகும்.

விளக்கம்:
உடம்பை யான் எனக் கருதலும் தொடர்பு இல்லாத பொருளை எனது எனக்கருதலுமாகிய மயக்கத்தை போக்குகின்றவன், தேவர்க்கும் எட்டாத உயர்ந்த நிலை அடைவான்.
Kural: 346Translation:
Who curbs the pride of I and mine Gets a world rare for gods to gain

Explanation:
Shall enter realms above the powers divine
குறள் : 347பற்றி விடாஅ இடும்பைகள் பற்றினைப்
பற்றி விடாஅ தவர் க்கு.

விளக்கம்:
யான் எனது என்னும் இருவகைப் பற்றுக்களையும் பற்றிக் கொண்டுவிடாத வரை, துன்பங்களும் விடாமல் பற்றிக்கொள்கின்றன.
Kural: 347Translation:
Grief clings on and on to those Who cling to bonds without release

Explanation:
Sorrows will never let go their hold of those who give not up their hold of desire
குறள் : 348தலைப்பட்டார் தீரத் துறந்தார் மயங்கி
வலைப்பட்டார் மற்றை யவர்.

விளக்கம்:
முற்றத் துறந்தவறே உயர்ந்த நிலையினர் ஆவர், அவ்வாறு துறக்காத மற்றவர் அறியாமையாகிய வலையில் அகப்பட்டவர் ஆவர்.
Kural: 348Translation:
Who renounce all are free from care Others suffer delusive snare

Explanation:
Those who have entirely renounced (all things and all desire) have obtained (absorption into God); all others wander in confusion, entangled in the net of (many) births
குறள் : 349பற்றற்ற கண்ணே பிறப்பறுக்கும் மற்று
நிலையாமை காணப் படும்.

விளக்கம்:
இருவகைப் பற்றும் அற்றபொழுதே அந்நிலை பிறவித் துன்பத்தை ஒழிக்கும், இல்லையானால் (பிறவித்துன்பம் மாறி மாறி வந்து) நிலையாமைக் காணப்படும்.
Kural: 349Translation:
Bondage cut off, rebirth is off The world then seems instable stuff

Explanation:
At the moment in which desire has been abandoned, (other) births will be cut off; when that has not been done, instability will be seen
குறள் : 350பற்றுக பற்றற்றான் பற்றினை அப்பற்றைப்
பற்றுக பற்று விடற்கு.

விளக்கம்:
பற்றில்லாதவனாகிய கடவுளுடைய பற்றை மட்டும் பற்றிக் கொள்ள வேண்டும், உள்ள பற்றுக்களை விட்டொழிப்பதற்கே அப் பற்றைப் பற்ற வேண்டும்.
Kural: 350Translation:
Bind Thyself to the unbound one That binding breaks all bonds anon

Explanation:
Desire the desire of Him who is without desire; in order to renounce desire, desire that desire
